In this article we’ll be looking at my review of the Ralph Lauren Polo Black mens cologne fragrance.

At first glance, there is something about the Ralph Lauren Polo Black. The moment I saw its black packaging albeit being packaged in a simple design when compared to other signature fragrances I have tried; it has this striking elegance and boldness in it, the kind of fragrance that is marketed as a scent that stands out.

You will know the kind of scent you can expect even by just looking at how the cologne is designed and packaged. With this cologne standing out in its black design, it made me curious as to what kind of scent it gives.

So finally, I was enticed to try one. After trying this cologne, I must say it has this really great smell I like.

Pros And Cons Of Polo Black Cologne

  • Has A Simple Yet Bold And Elegant Packaging Which Is A Perfect Gift Choice
  • Has A Combination Of Fruity, Citrus, Woody And Spicy Notes That Comprise The Elegant, Appealing And Perfectly Balanced Kind Of Scent
  • The Scent Is Moderate And It Does Not Come Off Too Strong
  • A Good Smelling Fragrance That Best Fits For Any Occasion And Activity

  • Compared To Other Signature Fragrances, The Longevity Of This Cologne Is Just Moderate Which Lasts Only About 5 To 6 Hours.

Product Description

Ralph Lauren Polo Black Eau de Toilette Spray was released in 2005. Created by Pierre Negrin, this woody fragrance features a combination of various ingredients like wormwood, lemon, tangerine, sage, mango, patchouli, tonka bean and sandalwood.

The woody spicy scent with its sage, mango and patchouli notes give this cologne just the right blend. It also exudes fruity aroma that has just enough sweetness but not too sweet. For a men’s cologne, what you will find interesting and unique is that the product uses mango and how the sage blends with mango that gives you this distinct scent.

Composition: The fragrance of Ralph Lauren Polo Black opens up with the striking and fruity scent of mango accompanied with sage and patchouli notes which give the cologne its woodsy and spicy scent.

The fruity aroma smells really good especially since it has just the right blend of sweetness, giving a soft dimension to the strong side of this fragrance.

The fruity notes are then followed by the scent of tonka beans and also some citrus notes with the brand using tangerine and lemon. One thing you will like about this cologne is it has some nice projection.

It does not come off as too energizing and strong but it has this very alluring and appealing scent.

Best Use: The composition of this scent makes Ralph Lauren Polo Black a good choice for almost any use and occasion.

Whether you want to use it when going to work or for special functions, the fact is that it smells good so you really wouldn’t have any trouble pairing this scent with your working clothes or even with your formal attire.

Longevity: Now this is where the downside of this cologne knocks in. After using and wearing the scent on a couple of occasions, I just notice that its longevity is also moderate. It would always last me about 6 to 7 hours.

Will I still repurchase? Definitely! The Ralph Lauren Polo Black is a great fragrance for men. It has this very distinct scent that will surely make you stand out in a crowd.

The woody and slightly spicy scent along with some fruity notes give this cologne a unique composition and a good projection.

It is just moderate in the sense that it is not overpowering and it is not too bland either. It has just the right blend and balance which makes it a good choice for any occasion.

The only downside is that its longevity is just moderate but it isn’t that bad. You can just expect that if you will be using this cologne when you have a long day, you may have to re-apply.

But apart from this, Ralph Lauren Polo Black fares really well in terms of over-all scent and projection and in my view, these are what really matters.
